After graduating from the University of Texas School of Law in 1962, Ivan Alexander, Jr. opened a private practice in Emory, Texas.  From there, Mr. Alexander piqued an interest in real estate, which led him to lease Elliott & Waldron Abstract & Title Company in Van Zandt County a year prior to purchasing the company in 1963.  The same year, Mr. Alexander purchased Rains County Abstract & Title Company from Judge Garrett, where he operated the company adjacent to his law office.

Mr. Alexander's sons, George Ivan Alexander and Phillip D. Alexander, both pursued law degrees after graduating high school.  In 1991, George graduated from the South Texas School of Law.  Two years later, Phillip graduated from Oklahoma City University School of Law and they returned home to become partners in the family business.  Which, later, lead them to purchase Wood County Title , expanding their business into Wood County.
